Light Matters
It has been a while since I wrote in this blog. I must say that I had had a rut in terms of what I have written and what I have been trying to have for my new writings. So for now, let's try something light for a change!Top ten things to like about living in Tokyo, sequentially:
1. Heated toilet seats and water that comes out from it!
2. Always someone out there to hand out free tissues on the street. Always come in handy when you are catching a cold :)
3. The trains are like alarm clock. You know it will be there, always, well, at least 99% of the time. I don't consider that a bad rate at all.
4. There is always new gadgets that come out, literally every week. Truly a heaven for those who like gadgets and the latest trend in technology
5. Generally quite a safe country. For women especially, you can feel safe about working late and come home even at 12 PM. The only bad thing is probably when some stupid drunken people are bothering you. But the Japanese have invented train for women only, so that takes care of the problem.
6. There is a very good decency in the people, when it comes to honesty. There was news once that one garbage collector found a stash of money (about 31 million JPY). Instead of keeping it to himself, he returned to the police! I don't know if this happen in any other country, but I thought it was quite impressive.
7. Some of the best place to try cuisines of the world. Tokyo is literally filled with good restaurants to suit your every taste in culinary delights. There is whale restaurant here, hmm...not for the queasy one indeed.
8. You have one of the fastest and cheapest broadband connectivity in the whole world. Imagine a 100 MB FTTH connection to your home for USD 50-60 /month, you know it is fast, right? It is just blazingly fast!
9. Come back to food, but in more specifics, the sweets and cakes. It appears the Japanese have found, to me anyway, a way to make every cookies and cakes they make to be mild in their tastes. Not too sweet, nor too bland, or sour, etc. It seems just the right taste somehow.
10. 24 hour convenience stores. You can go there to do just about everything (even go to toilet :P). Mail your letters, send your packages, buy the latest video games, get your cash from ATM, it truly imitates a mini supermarket. In some, you can even can get movie tickets, buy cars, and oh yeah, if you are bored, you can read magazines there too
So there you go. By the way, the number 1 is a truly help sent by God through Japanese engineering. You always appreciate a warm toilet seat, especially in winter time, hehehehehe.
