Altered States

The now deceased psychiatrist Timothy Leary was very notorious/famous during his lifetime. His advocacy of psychedelic drug called LSD as a way for humans to transcend beyond their reality and see themselves for what they really are opened the chaotic and wild 60's and 70's flower generation in the US.

I am not going to go into details on this drug, but would like to offer my position on drug enhancing substances such as LSD above. I personally think the above is a lazy man's way of trying to reach for different realm of life as we usually know it. The danger of abuse is far more possible, which could lead to a lot of problems obviously.

The better way is perhaps to go through meditation, be more in tune with our spiritual side. Our state now is such that we are so much surrounded with what is called modern technology that we forget we are actually more than just atoms and electrons and logic. Prophets achieved these realm of Understanding, as well as many others (Buddha, perhaps Confucius and Tao?) and I have never heard they did it through using drugs of any kind :)

Are common men and women capable of such feat as well? I don't see why not, assuming we are sincere and have the patience and persistence to do so. We are so capable of being angelic, yet also capable of falling to be so low, worse than animals...
